10w40 - Semi Synthetic. 'Spec 3'

For use in High-Performance applications, this oil is our best for the demanding environment found within any high-output Aircooled engine. Designed for high pressure and high heat production, this semi-synthetic oil holds its own in an engine with increased compression, high flow & high pressure oil systems, high lift camshafts, uprated dual or single valve springs, and even turbochargers. 

Our highest level of ZDDP for maximum camshaft/lifter protection, and the best stability under high and low temperatures. 

Elemental Zinc level of 1500ppm - ZDDP 15,000ppm

Your Engine oil plays a huge part in the proper running, cooling and Longevity of your Aircooled Flat 4 Engine.

So, don’t run any old crap! Modern ‘off the shelf’ oils in the right weights might seem correct, but will have redundant additives designed for much more modern engines and more stringent emissions regulations, and may also be completely missing some of the vital components older style engines require!

Contrary to this, most of the ‘classic style’ oils on offer may also not be the right grade! Oils marketed towards our cars in grades like 20w50 (way too thick, unless you live in south California!) and SAE30 (very old tech, essentially stopped being recommended by VW as soon as multigrades became readily available) simply aren’t correct for our engines and won’t cool or protect as well as the correct grade will.

No one-size-fits-all here, we have 3x specifications of Multigrade Engine Oil available - to match whatever specification your engine may be. Treat your Aircooled Flat-4 Engine with the 'right stuff'!

Formulated in the correct weights & grades, with only the additives you need, and rich in Zinc/ZDDP - your Aircooled Vw Engines specific and can-be demanding needs are catered for. 

Whether it be a totally original style engine, a mild performance engine with uprated cam & valvetrain, or a complete performance monster, with high lift cam, heavy/uprated valvetrain, higher compression & uprated oil system with spin on filter & external cooler… We’ve got what you need, and there’s an oil that suits your build best. 

10w30 - Mineral. 'Spec 1'
This is our ‘standard’ Engine Oil, and is best suited to any Stock and original specification Flat-4 Aircooled engine. Effectively this is inline with a factory recommended Multigrade engine oil for our generally mild UK climate.

This oil is the best for use with no external/aftermarket oil filter, just the stock oil strainer.

Elemental Zinc level of 1000ppm - ZDDP 10,000ppm

15w40 - Mineral. 'Spec 2'
Our Mild/moderately upgraded Engine Oil. This is designed for mostly stock style engines, with some performance upgrades that contribute to higher power output, and thus higher heat production! Increased ZDDP content for higher lift camshaft use.

Recommended for both stock style and aftermarket external spin-on oil filtration.
